Description
Description: Motoric accompaniment to the Lute Mae theme; heard as Dan and Lane drive in a car together; features alternating chords suggesting mechanical pistons and some comical gestures in the trombone; this cue has been compressed in the film, removing some of the repeated measures in the sketch (m. 3-4 and 7-8); Steiner also adds a "lengthening bar" to extend the ending slightly
On-screen: Lane drives Dan to the construction site
Music annotations: [m. 1] sfz / overlap / segue R6 Pt2 down beat bar / molto grazioso / mf; [m. 6] Murray: this is also on the "light" side - (thin + grazioso); [m. 10] quasi comedy; [m. 11] f; [m. 17] enharmonic; [m. 18] rall; [m. 19] R6 part 2A (lengthening bar) / modto / mf
Film annotations: [m. 10] Dialogue over; [m. 18] Into dialogue
Orchestration annotations: [m. 1] tutti brass muted / a little W.W. / muted brass; [m. 5] add vibra; [m. 9] cel + bells (or vibra) / tenor sax + 2nd trb (hat) / add a little brass; [m. 11] W.W. (piccolo) piano / soli; [m. 19] W.W. / string
